About the Event
Laurie grew up in Toronto, Canada and attended University of Waterloo graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. She interned at various companies including Toyota, Airbus, Apple, Formlabs, and Nest before transitioning to full time (at Nest) where she helped design the 2nd gen Nest mini and Nest Cam Wired. Her inspiration to become an engineer started at age 8 after learning about Thomas Edison and his work on the light bulb.
Justin graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 20 17, after taking some extra time to intern at Apple and Nest in the Bay Area of California, and to study at the University of Otago in Dunedin. New Zealand. Afterwards, he completed a master's degree in mechanical engineering with a focus in mechatronics at UC Davis in 20 19. He has been working on the Google Nest [Mechanical] Product Design team ever since.
